Ausgabe zur AGRITECHNICA 2019
Ausg.Nr._20/2019 27 roadshow V isitors to Ag in Motion, Western Canada’s Out- door Farm Expo, will be given the opportunity to find out about Agritechnica, the world’s leading trade fair for agricul- tural machinery that takes place every two years in Germany. Ag- ritechnica is attracting more visi- tors and exhibitors from Canada. Agritechnica’s guiding theme “Global Farming – Local responsi- bility” in 2019 will be of interest to Canadian farmers and exhibitors alike. The aim is to point visitors towards a sustainable future in agriculture that will require suf- ficient food to be produced for a growing world population, while simultaneously conserving natu- ral resources The German agricultural soci- ety (DLG), the organizer behind Agritechnica, will be on booth #506 in the Business Park at the exhibition, which takes place at Langham, about 35 kilometers North-west of Saskatoon, Sas- katchewan, from 16 to 18 July. They will provide detailed infor- mation on the program for this year’s trade fair, and how farmers and industry experts can attend. Agritechnica attracted close to 100,000 international visitors in 2017 – including 3,500 from North America). The 2011 Statis- tics Canada Agricultural Census put the total farm area at 63 mil- lion hectares. During the same five-year period, the number of farms dropped by 10.3 percent to 205,000, and the average farm size increased by 6.9 percent to 306 hectares. Agriculture in Canada employs 2 percent of the total workforce and contributes 1.6 percent to the country’s GDP. Its main products are wheat, barley, oilseed, tobac- co, fruit, vegetables and milk. An- nual wheat production is about 29 million tonnes, which compares with about 28 million tonnes in Germany, 39 million tonnes in France and 55 million tonnes in Canada’s southerly neighbor, the United States. The German exhibition has proved popular with the Canadian agricultural industry. Exhibitors from the country have been ac- tive participants at Agritechnica for the past 12 years, hosting the national pavilions from Saskatch- ewan and Manitoba. “Visitors from Canada will get the chance to talk to our travel partner in Canada, Lawrence Rowley from Leader Tours, who organizes tours to Agritechnica. He will be present travel options at the booth,” said Sandra Willer, area manager for Northern Europe, North and Latin America. Leading manufacturers time their innovation cycles and product launches to coincide with Agr- itechnica, which takes place every two years. Visitors can discover for themselves the latest and most comprehensive range of equip- ment and solutions, from tractors and harvesters to implements for cultivation, sowing, fertilizer ap- plication and crop protection.
