M
easuring technology,
materials
testing,
analysis equipment,
optoelectronics, image process-
ing and vision systems, hard-
ware and software for quality
assurance – the Control inter-
national trade fair for quality
assurance is coming on strong
once again in 2017 with a com-
prehensive portfolio of compo-
nents, modules, stand-alone
solutions and complete systems!
And that’s not all – entirely new
demands for suppliers all over
the world are resulting from ever
stricter requirements on the part
of manufacturing companies
with regard to the integration
of Industry 4.0 structures and
more in-depth use of, for exam-
ple, 3D measuring technology
and industrial image process-
ing. In keeping with tradition,
convincing answers will first be
presented to the expert visitors
by the manufacturers at the 31st
Control, which will once again be
held at the Stuttgart Exhibition
Centre from the 9th through the
12th of May, 2017.
Not only have the developers
and manufacturers of the corre-
sponding hardware and software
made a significant contribution
to the current state-of-the-art
of industrial quality assurance,
but rather above all the research
institutes, university laborato-
ries, institutions, associations
and scientific organisations as
well. They often initiate new ap-
proaches, generate ideas for
innovative developments and
stimulate the expansion of exist-
ing markets and the penetration
of new ones. As a logical conse-
quence, the Control international
trade fair for quality assurance
will mobilise everybody who’s
anybody in the industry sector
once again in 2017 – on the one
hand with more than 900 ex-
hibitors (Control 2016 had 914
exhibitors from 31 countries)
who will showcase worldwide
offerings for QA hardware and
software and, on the other hand,
by means of collaboration with
leading institutions and opinion
makers from all areas of indus-
trial quality assurance.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Pro-
duction Technology and Automa-
tion (IPA) and the Fraunhofer Vi-
sion Alliance can be mentioned
here as longstanding collabora-
tion partners. The IPA will hold its
Event Forum for the 10th time (!)
already at Control 2017, which is
currently dealing with issues in-
volving “Quality Over the Course
of Time – a Look at the Last Dec-
ade and the Future of Quality
Control”. The Fraunhofer Vision
Alliance has been on-board even
longer and will promote the spe-
cial show for “Contactless Meas-
uring Technology” for the 13th
time (!) at Control 2017. The sec-
ond Fraunhofer Vision Alliance
booth will focus on “Monitoring
Throughout the Product Lifecy-
cle with Image Processing” this
year. The unstoppable advance of
image processing and vision sys-
tems in all areas of quality assur-
ance is one of the reasons that the
European Machine Vision Associ-
ation (EMVA) has also been a col-
laboration partner since Control
2016, and has gotten off to a very
successful start with the “Control
Vision Talks”.
This success has prompted the
EMVA to organise the “Control Vi-
sion Talks” once again on the oc-
casion of Control 2017, which will
address technology issues includ-
ing “The World of 3D: From 6-DoF
to Point Cloud”, “Optical Metrol-
ogy: Offline – At Line – Inline”,
“Metrology Throughout the Whole
Spectrum: From Infrared to Hyper-
spectral” at this year’s event and
will thus surely be of great inter-
est to the expert visitors. Amongst
others,
further
collaboration
partners include xpertgate who
has taken on the responsibility of
researching and preparing Con-
trol’s special trade fair guide for
“Image Processing” already for
the fourth time, and not least of all
the TQU GROUP with whom trade
fair promoters P. E. Schall GmbH
& Co. KG have organised the pres-
entation of the Baden-Württem-
berg Competence Award since
2008 under the patronage of the
Steinbeis Foundation in Stuttgart.
With a mix of worldwide offerings
for QA hardware and software, the
analysis and discussion of current
problems with experienced sup-
pliers and open communication
with insiders from the industry
sector, expert visitors from near
and far will be able to gain more
than just an overall picture, thus
providing them with adequate
decision-making security for their
routine daily work.
